YW in Excellence Tomorrow

Don't forget our YW in Excellence program tomorrow (November 9) at 7:00 at the church. If you are setting up a table display, please come at about 6:30--early enough to have everything completely set up before 7:00. Sunday dress is appropriate.

Picnic in the Park

We had a great time at our picnic at Eagle Park on July 28. The 10th Ward Young Women joined us also, which made it even more fun. Too bad I forgot my camera, or I'd have some pictures to post!

Temple Trip

Today some of the Young Women and Young Men and leaders enjoyed a trip to the Mount Timpanogos Temple to do baptisms for the dead. Afterward we had a fun outing to Cold Stone.

Temple Trip Next Week

If you're planning to go to the temple to do baptisms next week, you'll need to have a temple recommend before then. Young Women need to be at the temple by noon on Wednesday, July 14. Please remember it's Sunday dress, and no flip flops.

Stake Relief Society Clothing Exchange

Sister Schreiner is still in great need of someone to gather prom and specialty dresses for a formal room at the stake clothing exchange on July 17. It has been suggested that the Young Women can use this opportunity for a Value Project. The clothing for the formal room needs to be collected, washed, repaired, updated, and modesty modifications made, if needed.

This would be a great opportunity for daughters and moms to work together. Remember moms are encouraged to work on Personal Progress with their daughters! There is still time to help make this idea a big success but  It will take the efforts of several YW and their moms.

Getting to Know the 10th Ward

It was fun to get together tonight at the church with the Young Women and leaders from the 10th Ward. They are going to attend our combined activities, since their ward doesn't have very many Young Women (yet). We played get-to-know-you Bingo, a scripture character guessing game, and a question game. They were all really fun! Then we had root beer floats, and it was time to go home.
I tried to get pictures of everyone, but of course I got out the camera during a game when people were rotating between groups. I can see that I missed some people and got others twice. And for some reason Blogger is giving me pains and won't let me type captions under most of the photos, and I really wanted to do that while I can still remember the people from the 10th ward's names. Sorry!

Seminary Graduation - Everyone 14+ invited!

Seminary graduation is this Wednesday, May 19, at 7:00. This will be our YM/YW activity this week for those 14 years and older. The graduates, the parents of the graduates, all youth 14 and older, and YM/YW leaders are encouraged to attend. Katie Webb and Megan Fotheringham from our ward are among the graduates.

Please come in Sunday attire and show your support for those who are graduating! As an extra bonus, the stake Young Women leaders have some incredible refreshments planned.

Get Ready for Camp!

It's almost time for girls camp! Please mark your calendar and plan to attend our final camp prep meeting on Wednesday, May 26, at 7:00 at the church. Bring a parent! We will go over the packing list for camp, transportation plans, schedules, and so on. We will stay in cabins at camp.

It's very important that we get an accurate list of who IS and ISN'T going to camp. Also, if you are planning to come to camp late or leave early, your name MUST be on a special list. There's a guard station at the entrance to the camp. Anyone coming or going at times separate from the group must have her name on that list, or she won't get past the guard station. This is a strongly enforced rule at the camp, and it affects both girls and leaders. Talk to our camp director, Paulette Benson (801-768-7055), if you need to have your name on the list.

Mom & Me PJ Brunch

We had a great time at the Mom & Me Pajamas Brunch this morning at the Egberts'. I took the pictures right before Jessi and her mom came, and then I didn't get my camera out again. Sorry to leave you out, ladies.

We ate yummy fresh fruit, bagels, breads, and juice. Then we played Do You Love Your Neighbor and talked. Each of the girls gave their moms a bookmark. We were lucky to have nice weather to be outside. Thanks, Kristin, for organizing it all for everyone!

Spa & Smoothie Night

The Beehives had a great time at the Olsens' on Wednesday night. Everyone painted their fingernails, while Rachael & Sister Olsen did glitter toes, and Sister Taylor made fruit smoothies for everyone.

We were happy to have our THREE new Beehives at the activity: Harlee Wadsworth and  Kelsey Funk recently turned 12 and joined Young Womens, and Makell Hansen moved into our ward this past week. Welcome, girls!

Youth Conference CHANGE - 14+ only

Due to our large numbers and budgetary constraints, we will stay with the original Youth Conference policy of 14 to 18 years old to attend this year's Youth Conference at Snow College. In order to attend, you must be 14 on or before the 1st day of Youth Conference (June 15th). For those who are planning to attend, please submit your $35 deposit to one of the YW Leaders no later than Sunday, April 25th. Please make a check payable to Saratoga Springs 5th Ward. Beehives, we look forward to having you join us at this year's Stake YW Camp at Heber Valley! It will be a lot of FUN!

Welcome, Holly!

We are happy to welcome Holly Armstrong to our Young Women program. Holly is a Mia Maid. She moved to Saratoga Springs from Bountiful. Before Bountiful, she lived in Highland. She lives in the Lakeside neighborhood.

During the week, Holly will be up in Bountiful with her grandparents, so she doesn't have to switch schools again. We can get to know Holly when she is here with us on weekends.

Fun at the Fire Pit

We had a great time learning about fire building and fire safety and building our own little "fires" with Paulette Benson on Wednesday, April 14. Thanks, Paulette!

Mark your calendar for our next combined YW activity. On April 14, we are going to meet at Rose Sommers' house and do some campfire cooking. It is going to be super fun. Don't miss it!

"Snow Fun" Youth Conference

Our ward Youth Conference will be from June 15-17 this year. It is for all youth ages 14-18. Call Sister Hawks at (801) 766-6181  to reserve your spot to attend a fun-packed 3-day, 2-night stay @ Snow College!We need an accurate headcount ASAP!
Highlights and fun activities include:

• Mormon Miracle Pageant: Utah's largest outdoor dramatic presentation with over 150,000 visitors annually. We will be attending the pageant on the hillside of the Manti Temple just after dusk on Tuesday, June 15th.

• Snow Follies: a series of water/field relay games you've never played before!

• Badger Blast Games: a collection of unusual games. These include rip tag, tandem bide rides, soccer, sand volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, hoops games, disc golf, and other field games.

• Youth Dance Party:  (Dependent on the scheduling other groups at the same time our group is there.)

• Fireside Speaker and Testimony Meeting (arranged by Bishop Hill)

General Young Women Meeting

The General Young Women Meeting will be broadcast this Saturday, March 27, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the stake center. Or contact Sister Hawks at 801-766-6181 if you want tickets to go to the meeting at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. Sunday dress is appropriate if you go to the stake center or the conference center. If you’d rather stay home, you can watch it on KBYU on Saturday night from 8:00 - 9:30 p.m.
